CBA Signs Buffalo Treaty

Les Kroeger, President of the CBA Signing Buffalo Treaty

On Friday July 15, 2022, Les Kroeger, President of the Canadian Bison Association along with Jim Matheson, Executive Director of the United States National Bison Association joined First Nation parties in the signing of The Buffalo Treaty.

Under Article VIII of the treaty, Partnerships and Supporters, Les Kroeger and Jim Matheson became signatories to the Buffalo Treaty as partners and supporters, to perpetuate the spirit and intent of this treaty, “To honor, recognize, and revitalize the time immemorial relationship we have with BUFFALO”.

“It was a great way to finish off a great week of networking and learning at the International Bison Convention” stated Les Kroeger. “I could not think of a more fitting way to finish the week than participating in the signing of the Buffalo Treaty – A treaty of Cooperation, Renewal and Restoration” Mr. Kroeger Added.

The treaty signing and celebration was held at Wanuskewin Heritage Park at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan following the International Bison Conference 2022, in Saskatoon with participants from Canada and the United States.
