Ingredients:

  • Meatballs
  • 1 ½ pounds/ .7 kg ground bison
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies
  • ½ tsp salt (could substitute half for garlic salt, if you like that)
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 egg

Sauce

  • ¾ cup white sugar (if you want to substitute brown sugar, cut back to ½ cup)
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp soya sauce

Instructions:
Mix the meatball ingredients together, form into balls, dip in flour and fry in whatever fat or oil you like to fry in (there is virtually no fat in the meat, so don’t expect any to help you fry!) You just need to brown the meatballs and get them firm enough to hold together. Put them into a casserole dish as you finish frying each batch.

In a sauce pan mix all the sauce ingredients together and boil for 10 minutes. Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the casserole dish, then put it in the oven at 300o for 1 hour.

I like to serve this over rice, which soaks up the sauce. This should serve 6, but once they taste them, they’re going to want seconds!
