December 4, 2019 - Regina Saskatchewan - Longtime bison producer Les Kroeger elected President and Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Bison Association (CBA).
At its Board meeting on December 4, 2019, the Board of Directors of the Canadian Bison Association elected Les Kroeger as President and Chair of the Board. Les is currently President of the Saskatchewan Bison Association, a position he has held since 2011. He has also served on the CBA Board of Directors since the fall of 2016.
Les has been in the bison industry since 1989. Along with his wife Kathy, they have a cow-calf grass operation. In addition to marketing live animals, they market bison products locally.
Les is a strong supporter of youth involvement in agriculture. He also supports and participates in research projects aimed at better understanding bison and the grass they graze on. Most recently, Les Kroeger was elected chair of BAC 2022, which will host an international bison conference in Saskatoon.
"It is an honor and a privilege for me to serve as Chairman of the CBA Board of Directors," said Mr. Les. “Working with people who have a passion for the animal and the industry makes my role a pleasure as I work with like-minded people who want to grow the industry while emphasizing the sustainability,” he added.
Steven Lunty of Alberta was elected to the Executive Committee
Vice President, Jean-Luc Chouinard, from Quebec, representing the East Zone, and Doreen Neilly, from Alberta, representing the West Zone.
The Canadian Bison Association is a national association representing the interests of the bison industry and its 550 members in Canada.
