Canadian Bison Association Auction A Great Success
A total of 79 bison consigned by 17 bison producers from Western Canada were sold by video auction at the Canadian Bison Association’s 26th National Show and Sale in Regina.
This third video auction built on the success of the second video auction for bison since the Canadian National Bison Show and Sale began in 1993. The 2018 sale average of $5,618 is below the 2017 sale average of $7,935. This year’s prices were marginally below last year’s level, heifer prices averaged $4,745 compared to the $9,350 average of 2017 and bull prices averaged $7,616.
This year we had a tie for top selling bulls; they were sold by the Miller family of Silver Creek Bison-for $17,000 to Beldon Bison Ranch and the Dorey family of Irish Creek Bison for $17,000 to Big Country Bison.
The Shankowsky Family of Big Country were the winners of the Premier Breeder Award.
The Online Sale Broadcast was handled by Direct Livestock Marketing System (DLMS), with Brennin Jack of the Jack Auction Group providing the auctioneering services.
