Born and raised on the family bison farm, in Earlton, Ontario, Charles is now the co-owner and operator of Bison du Nord and lives on the farm with his wife, Vanessa, and their three children, Janelle, Julien and Sophie.
One of the pioneer commercial bison herds in Canada, and one of the largest in Eastern Canada, Bison du Nord was founded in 1972. Today, the farm is home to more than 350 pasture raised bison and is a recognized leader for its quality breeding stock, maintaining diversified performance genetics of plains bison for more than 50 years. Bison Du Nord uses sustainable agriculture methods and is proud to be Certified Animal Welfare Approved and Certified Grassfed by A Greener World (AGW).
His father, Pierre Bélanger, helped establish the Canadian Bison Association (CBA) and the Ontario Bison Association (OBA), serving as president for both organizations over the years. With his involvement as vice-president of the OBA, and now on the CBA's Board of Directors, Charles is proud to continue his father’s legacy by working alongside fellow Canadian producers and helping to further the industry.
